Water Heater Tips
We don’t like inefficient water heaters in this house. Here’s how to get the most out of yours.
Insulating is key and only needs to be done once. First, be sure to turn off your water heater before you start this process. Pick up an insulating blanket and trim it to fit around the TPR valve, pipes, and temperature control panel. Then, wrap the side of the tank and secure it with foil tape, making sure not to cover the top of the heater. You can also purchase pre-cut insulating blankets. No matter how you do it, insulating your heater can reduce your heat loss between 25-45%, and save you money along the way. If you want to go the extra mile, you can insulate your pipes with foam pipe insulation.
